We believe that the learning of a foreign language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for the pupils. We do this in an enjoyable and interactive way so that children have a positive approach to learning French.  Lessons generally revolve around music, song, role play and art with a focus on children reading, writing and particularly speaking French. We aim to lay the foundations of learning any language in the future by looking at verb structure as well as the nuances of French - such as masculine and feminine forms.  We develop skills through years 3 to 6 with the aim of children being able to speak in French in a variety of contexts, such as speaking about themselves, by the time they leave us. We  also focus on key areas of French in preparation for secondary school with, for example, weekly repetition of the numbers to 100, the days of the week and the months of the year.
