Our Outdoor Learning sessions, led by Mr Blake, are holistic learning through play and exploration; children learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks, how to use their initiative, and ways in which they can work as part of a team. Children have opportunities to build shelters, light a fire and use simple woodworking skills to create and build objects. Every child in our school has the opportunity to take part in Outdoor Learning sessions during the school year.
For the Outdoor Learning sessions children need to come into school wearing clothes that they don't mind potentially getting dirty. Long trousers need to be worn. Unless there has been a severe weather warning the children will be taking part, so wellies and rain coats are advisable depending on the weather forecast.
Parent volunteers are invited to help out at these sessions.
